Company History
Craigowl Services Ltd started up in October 1995, to act as agents and distributors for Mikro-Technik GmbH & Co.
KG., a family owned German company based in Miltenberg am Main, south east of Frankfurt. For over thirty years, Mikro-Technik
have been manufacturing a unique range of cellulose ethers (Carboxymethyl cellulose or CMC), Cellulose Powders/Fibres
and PTFE and UHMW polyethylene extrusions.
The principal Director of Craigowl was born and brought up in Dundee; a major port and manufacturing city on the
east coast of Scotland - famous for Jute, Jam and Journalism. The city is hemmed in between the River Tay estuary to the south,
and a range of hills called the Sidlaws to the north. The highest of these hills is Craigowl - in Scots Gaelic "Creag
gobhal" meaning "forked hill" since it splits into two ridges to the north. Craigowl Hill is topped by a forest of masts,
and is visible for miles around. We chose this name for our Company to remind us of our mis spent youth!
